The young generation has unique ways to convert their passion into successful business ideas. There are many such instances in recent times where a successful start-ups have been established by amateurs or first generation entrepreneurs. These ventures may not flourish from day one and might go through various lean patches, but with time, many of them turn into multi-million dollar businesses. Gagan Jain is one of such first generation entrepreneurs who became a millionaire thanks to his wife’s hobby.

When Gagan went out wearing shirts with colorful paintings done on them by his wife Neeti, people around would greatly appreciate the work. His wife is an amateur painter who used to handpaint his shirts. An idea clicked and Gagan thought that if people really like it then they will surely buy it. They had a business opportunity in it and they decided to start a startup based on hand-painted shirts.

Nearly four years ago, Gagan with his wife Neeti Jain started a start-up company named ‘Rang Rage’ in Indore with their personal savings of Rs 15 lakhs.

Neeti got this habit of painting her husband’s shirt when they were in Muscat a few years back, where Gagan was working for a fashion brand. As Neeti did not have a work permit, she had to sit idle all day. She then decided to spend her day nurturing her old hobby – painting. She started painting on her husband’s shirts. When some people showed interest in buying the shirts, they thought of translating this hobby into a business idea. Gagan then left his job and they came to Indore to start their dream start-up Rang Rage.

In the beginning, the company used to design shirts only, but with growing demands, it started designing handicrafts, cushion, bedsheet cover, and other decorative items. Today, the annual turnover of the company has reached over Rs 2 crores. Moreover, Rang Rage now has around 200 employees associated with the company, working tirelessly to meet the demands of thousands of customers from all over the world, not just in India.

With the success of Gagan and Neeti, we learned that there is no shortage of successful business ideas and even our small hobbies can be translated into a successful venture. We just need to have an open mind and right mindset to check it out. We need to point out our own passion and the right ways to present it to the potential customers, then there would be no such business in this world which would not be successful.
